Endrizzi, historical Trentino winery

 

Endrizzi is a historical Trentino winery. In fact, it is the historical Trentino winery, founded in 1885, when the territory was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. 

San Michele all'Adige has been an important winemaking region since the Middle Ages: the Abbey’s Augustinian monks were the first to promote wine culture, tilling the ancient vineyards now part of the Endrizzi estate. In 1797, Napoleon had to fight a fierce battle to conquer Masetto.


Foundation of the Endrizzi winery

In 1885, Francesco and Angelo Endrici (Endrizzi in the local dialect) founded the winery in the Masetto area, where it remains to this day. True pioneers, they introduced two of the world’s finest grape species - Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot – in the early 1900s, while continuing to grow important local varieties such as Lagrein and Teroldego. Francesco was succeeded by his son Romano, who was also President of the Province of Trento, and by his grandson Franco, who chaired the Trento Wine Council for twenty years.

Looking to the future

 

The fourth generation is represented by Paolo and his wife Christine, a German architect: their different cultural backgrounds stimulate creative management of the winery. The fifth generation has already joined the team: Lisa Maria and Daniele, with degrees in Wine Economics from Bordeaux and Geisenheim, represent the future of one of Trentino’s oldest winemakers.

We were one of the first eco-friendly wineries in Trentino-Alto Adige: we opted for a healthy, clean approach to agriculture and built a new wing for our cellars based on the principles of eco-sustainability.
